Vacation- It’s Good For You

Some of the best ideas come around while “doing nothing”. But sitting idle isn’t the hobbyist’s way. How does this work? If I do this what will happen?  With a nature that is often more scientific than hedonist you’re often far more inclined to tour the workings of a train than be as charmed by the passing landscape.

But now you’re in a quandary, you’ve got a project – you’re stuck and you can’t find your way out. It’s time for one of those short breaks – the ones that will let you walk away from it in order to gain some new perspective. It doesn’t need to be a long get-away, maybe an extended weekend or longer, if needed, but just the chance to let that subconscious problem solver do its thing while the outside world things you’re lounging.

Countless brilliant creatives, from physicists to world-renowned musicians, share one thing in common – the belief that some of their greatest breakthroughs came when they became so frustrated, walked away and took their minds off the subject. How many have reported having light-bulb moments in the shower? It happens all the time.

So if you’re a hard worker and you’re feeling deadlocked, seriously – take a little time for yourself, get out of town, breathe fresh air, let your mind “go”; odds are when you least expect it (preferably near a pool with a fruity cocktail in hand) you’ll stare off into the distance thinking of nothing in particular and then shout, “I’ve got it!” So go on, vacation – it’s good for you.
